It's time to bring Kalinga back on the books as a suburb.  The proposal to re-raise Kalinga has been gazetted for public comment and we now need you to submit comments to the State Government in support of having Kalinga as a distinct suburb.  Everyone in the household can comment, so please encourage family members/flatmates/significant others to comment too.  We are aiming for at least 500 responses, so everyone’s comment is crucial to achieving an overwhelming response. The best way to comment is online at: https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/mapping-data/place-names/current-proposals-recent-decisions/current-proposals/job-number-13-020  Click on the Comment on a Proposal button on the right.  It is proposal number 13-020   You will receive a confirmation email, please forward a copy to suburbname@wooloowin.org to help us keep count on how the response is going.  The time for public comment closes on 29th July   Thanks again for your support on this historic opportunity to bring back the name of Kalinga as an official suburb. It's the final call for the Australia Day Cricket Match Register your street team for the second annual Australia Day Cricket Match!  Smash the competition to the boundary – and win the overall prize for South vs North. Who will salvage the honour of the South after being savaged by the Lewis Street team last year? Lodge Road remains the dividing line between those peaceful people of the South and the sun-loving people of the North! Come and play for the honour of your neighbours as we do battle together with intensive 5-over a side Cricket whilst consuming the all empowering Kalinga Burger and a softie or drink as you see fit!  Or bring your own sustenance to keep you going while the North vs South in a battle of Cricket skill at the Kalinga Bowls Club. The action starts at 10am sharp.  Get together with your neighbours and form a team to represent your street.  The morning session will determine the top three teams from both the South and the North who will go head to head in the finals commencing at 1 pm. Will your street be the ones to redeem the honour of the South?  Will your street be the last ones standing to defend the honour of the North? Don't worry if you don't have a team, come along and we'll find one for you... Enjoy lunch prepared for you by our caterers from 12 noon to 1 pm.  Grown ups can enjoy a Kalinga Burger and kids a sausage and bread.  Or bring a team picnic of your own and use the hot plate provided to cook your own BBQ.
